Now consider how the two games actually play. In No-Limit Hold'em, a large share of hands end pre-flop or on the flop with a single bet taking it down. Every player holds four cards, equities run much closer together, and far more hands go multi-way to a flop and beyond. Pots are bigger and they get bigger earlier.
The result is that a much higher proportion of PLO pots hit the rake cap. Combine that with a higher hands-per-hour rate at full-ring PLO tables — fewer walkovers, more action — and the rake generated per hour of play at the same nominal stakes is meaningfully higher in Omaha than in Hold'em. Estimates vary by room, stake and table size, so treat any specific multiplier you see quoted with suspicion, but the direction of the effect is not in dispute.
Here is where the simple advice falls apart. Rake is a cost you pay to the room. Generating more rake per hour means losing more money to the house per hour, and the bonus only partially rebates that. A typical incremental-release welcome offer returns something well under half of the rake you generate while clearing it.
So the honest framing is: PLO gets you to the finish line faster, but the race itself is more expensive. That is fine if you play PLO competently, because the games are generally softer than Hold'em at equivalent stakes and a competent player's edge can exceed the extra rake drag. It is a disaster if you are a Hold'em regular dabbling in Omaha for the first time, because you will be paying premium rake to play a game you do not yet understand, against opponents who do.
Liquidity matters more than theory. A game that clears bonuses twice as fast is worth nothing if there is no table running when you sit down.

What tournaments do offer is predictability. You know exactly what rake a session will generate before you register, which makes planning a clearing schedule far easier than estimating cash-game hands per hour. Some bonus hunters use a hybrid approach: cash-game PLO for raw clearing volume, plus a fixed tournament allocation for the upside and the series value.
Whatever game you land on, the mechanics of a good plan are the same. Work out the total rake required to release the full bonus, divide by a realistic estimate of your hourly rake generation, and check the result against the offer's expiry window. If the arithmetic says you need forty hours a week to clear in time, the honest answer is to claim a smaller bonus you can actually finish.
PLO clears poker bonuses faster because it produces bigger pots more often, and bigger pots hit the rake cap. That advantage is real and it is worth using — but only by players who can hold their own in the game.
